When i say "essay", most students' reactions are a bit like this--
but it's really not that bad.
There are two types of essays- the essays that you see on tests (like the AP exam) and Brock's two midterm essays. The test essays shouldn't even be called "essays", really. They're open response or short answer. The answers are always clear cut. You get credit for simply answering the question, so you don't have to add fluff.

The other essays are the midterm essays. Full-fledged, five or six paragraph essays. Again, some people are like--

--but it really isn't bad. They're between 500 and 700 words( TINY!) and cover topics you'll definitely know from class. Sweet little Mr. Brock even lets you rewrite to make up points you missed. But they're a big part of your grade, so take them seriously. Bear Grylls does.
